August 2023 is just around the corner, and for all of us book and movie lovers, it means one thing—new book-to-screen adaptations are on the horizon!

Here are four highly anticipated book adaptations that are set to make August an unforgettable month for all of us:

  1. Heartstopper (Season 2 premiere, Netflix) – August 3

Heartstopper,” a delightful live-action series returning for its second season on Netflix. Based on Alice Oseman’s heartwarming LGBTQ+ romance graphic novels, this show follows the sweet love story of two British high school students, Charlie and Nick. Season 2 adapts Volume 3 of the series, where the teens explore their relationship further during a school trip to Paris.

With genuine emotions and tender moments, this series will warm your heart and leave you rooting for love. Newcomer Joe Locke plays Charlie, while Kit Connor, known for his role in “Rocketman,” shines as Nick.

  1. Meg 2: The Trench (theatrical film premiere) – August 8

For the thrill-seekers, “Meg 2: The Trench” is a must-watch action-packed movie hitting theaters. Following the success of “The Meg” in 2018, this sequel is based on Steve Alten’s novel, “The Trench.”

Prepare for a high-stakes adventure as paleontologist Jonas Taylor, portrayed by the talented Jason Statham, faces off against a gigantic, ravenous shark—the offspring of the extinct megalodon. Expect jaw-dropping moments and intense scares as director Ben Wheatley takes you on a wild ride.

  1. Corner Office (theatrical film premiere) – August 16

Get ready for a quirky and darkly comedic film with “Corner Office,” starring the charismatic Jon Hamm. Based on Jonas Karlsson’s novel “The Room,” the story revolves around an unreliable civil service worker, Björn, who stumbles upon a secret room that grants him incredible abilities.

However, his odd behavior and the room’s hidden nature raise eyebrows among his co-workers. With Jon Hamm’s impressive comedic skills and the talented Danny Pudi in the mix, this satirical gem promises a unique cinematic experience.

  1. The Winter King (limited series premiere, MGM+) – August 20

Are you a fan of Arthurian legends? Then “The Winter King” is tailor-made for you! This limited series, based on Bernard Cornwell’s novel of the same name, offers a fresh take on the well-known characters. Prepare to witness King Arthur depicted as you’ve never seen before, with Lancelot as a cowardly politician and Merlin as a comical wizard.

The show boasts great battle scenes and intriguing political drama, making it a must-watch for fantasy enthusiasts. Iain De Caestecker, known for his role in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” stars as Arthur, adding his charm and talent to the mix.
